What is THE YARD?
THE YARD is a game experience in Vienna where you compete against each other in small teams. You play lots of short challenges testing skill, reflexes, tactics, movement and knowledge, collect points with the help of our app, and crown a winning team at the end, all with a real game-show feel.
Who is THE YARD for?
THE YARD is perfect for groups of friends, families, birthdays, stag and hen dos, company and team events, clubs and school classes. No experience needed, just a love of playing together and a bit of friendly rivalry.
Are there any age restrictions?
THE YARD is generally suitable for adults and young people aged around 10 and up. Whether it works for a younger child depends on the child and the group, so it's best to get in touch before booking and we'll find the right package together.
Can kids and adults play together?
Absolutely. The challenges call for very different skills, so it's not just about strength, knowledge or dexterity. That means it's never the same people with the upper hand, and mixed family teams work really well.
Can younger siblings come along?
Please get in touch before booking. We'll work out together whether younger siblings can play or just come along, and how to factor them into your group size.
Games & how it works
What happens during a visit to THE YARD?
We welcome you, split you into teams and walk you through how it all works. Then it's time to play. You'll find all game instructions on tablets, and our team is always on hand if you have questions. At the end, the scores are compared and the winning team is crowned.
What kind of games and challenges are there?
At THE YARD, you'll take on challenges covering skill, reflexes, tactics, teamwork, movement and knowledge. The exact selection depends on the package you book.
How does the scoring work?
We have our own scoring system, supported by our app. Some of the points you count and enter yourselves, so fair play is part of the game at THE YARD.
How big should a team be?
3 to 4 people per team is ideal. We split larger groups into several teams so everyone stays in the action. If you already know how you'd like to split up, just let us know in advance. Otherwise, we'll help you create well-balanced teams on the day.
Are the games explained? Is there a game master?
On a standard visit, you play independently after the introduction, using tablets with all the game instructions. Our team is on site to help if anything's unclear. For events, you can also request a dedicated game master to host your group throughout.
How long does a visit take?
It depends on your package: Try Out with 5 games takes about 1–1.5 hours, Basic with 8 games about 2–2.5 hours, and Advanced with 12 games about 3–3.5 hours. We recommend allowing a little extra time for arriving, the introduction and a relaxed wind-down afterwards.
Which package is right for us?
Try Out is great for a quick taste, Basic for a classic visit and Advanced for a full-on games night. If you're working to a fixed schedule, for example for a company event or a party, we're happy to recommend the right package.
Do I need to be sporty?
Not at all. Some games involve movement and reflexes, others skill, tactics or knowledge. You don't need to be particularly athletic, which is exactly why THE YARD works so well for company events and mixed-age groups.
Bookings & groups
How much does a visit cost?
Prices depend on your package and are per person: Try Out with 5 games is €19, Basic with 8 games €26 and Advanced with 12 games €32. Your group's total is based on the package and number of people, plus any extras such as a drinks package or catering. You'll also see current prices directly when booking.
Are there discounts for young people, clubs or special occasions?
Yes, for certain groups such as schools and clubs. Just let us know what kind of group or occasion it is when you book or enquire, and we'll check the right price for you.
What's the difference between a regular and an exclusive booking?
With a regular booking, you play as your own group in your own teams, but other groups may be at THE YARD at the same time. With an exclusive booking, you have THE YARD all to yourselves: ideal for company events, birthdays or parties where you'd rather keep it private.
How much does an exclusive booking cost?
Exclusive bookings are charged at a flat €7 per person on top of your chosen package.
How many people can come to THE YARD together?
Anything from 2 people to groups of around 40 is possible. We split larger groups into several teams so everyone gets to play. For exclusive bookings, we can even go up to 60 people.
We don't know our exact numbers yet. Can we still book?
Yes. Just give us a realistic estimate to start with. We'll let you know when we need final numbers and how later changes are handled. Extra people can join as long as there's space, so please let us know as early as possible so we can plan the teams properly.
How do I book for a larger group?
Send us your preferred date, approximate group size, how long you'd like to play and the occasion. We'll put together a suitable plan and a quote for you. For groups of 16 or more, we always recommend a quick enquiry in advance so we can organise teams and play areas in the best way.
Do we have to pay everything upfront?
That depends on how you book. For online bookings, you'll see the available payment options during the booking process. For group and company bookings, payment terms are set out in your quote. If you'd like to pay separately or partly on the day, please arrange this with us in advance so your booking is recorded correctly.
Can we book THE YARD outside regular opening hours?
Yes, for groups and companies, other days and times are possible by arrangement. Just send us your preferred date, group size and plans, and we'll see what we can do.
I haven't received a booking confirmation. What should I do?
Please check your spam folder first. If it's not there, get in touch with your name, booking date and the email address you used. Your booking is confirmed once you've received a booking confirmation from us.
Birthdays & celebrations
Can we celebrate a kid's or teen's birthday at THE YARD?
Yes. We split the birthday group into teams and recommend the right package. THE YARD is suitable from about age 10. If you'd also like time for cake or just hanging out together, please mention it in your enquiry.
Is THE YARD a good fit for a milestone birthday or a stag or hen do?
Absolutely. Competing in small teams makes a perfect shared activity and gets the mood going fast. If you want to eat, drink or keep the party going afterwards, we're happy to plan it all with you.
Can school classes visit THE YARD?
Yes, school classes are very welcome. Please tell us the age, approximate number of students and preferred duration in your enquiry so we can suggest the right plan.
Can we bring our own prizes for the winning team?
Yes, you're welcome to bring small prizes by arrangement. If you're planning a winners' ceremony, let us know in advance and we'll build it into the programme.
Companies & workshops
How does a company or team event at THE YARD work?
Colleagues play against each other in mixed teams and share an experience away from the daily grind. Groups of up to around 60 people are possible. On request, we can combine this with an exclusive booking, hosting, a drinks package or catering, and companies can pay by invoice.
Can THE YARD be used for company workshops?
Yes. We work with experienced team development coaches and offer workshops on agility, collaboration and communication on request. The challenges at THE YARD fit perfectly into a workshop as a hands-on element.
Can companies pay by invoice?
Yes, invoice payment is available for company bookings. Just send us your full company name and billing address.
Can THE YARD come to a different location?
A mobile set-up is possible for selected formats. Send us the location, date, group size and available space, and we'll check what we can offer for your event.
Food & drinks
Are drinks available at THE YARD?
Yes, we have a bottle bar with soft drinks, beer and wine. Groups and companies can pay per drink or opt for a drinks package.
Can we book catering?
Yes, catering is available for company and group events. Just tell us what you have in mind and when you'd like to eat, and we'll build it into your schedule.
Can we bring cake, snacks or our own food?
Yes, by arrangement, for example a birthday cake. Let us know in advance what you'd like to bring and whether you need extra time or a separate area. Drinks must be purchased from THE YARD.
Is there somewhere to hang out after the games?
If you'd like extra time for cake, food or winding down together, please mention it in your enquiry. We'll check which area and time slot are available for you.
Location
Where can I find THE YARD?
You'll find us in Vienna's 7th district (Neubau) at Westbahnstraße 32–34, 1070 Vienna, in the corner space right next to the pharmacy.
Is THE YARD accessible?
Unfortunately not fully: our toilets are one floor down and can only be reached by stairs. If anyone in your group has specific mobility or accessibility needs, please let us know in advance so we can plan together. We're also working on making our website fully accessible in line with EU requirements.
Changes & cancellations
Can we reschedule?
Please get in touch as early as possible with your booking reference and one or more alternative dates. We'll check availability and your booking terms and come back to you with a solution.
What if someone gets sick or our numbers drop?
Please let us know about any changes as early as possible. Whether we can adjust, reschedule or offer a credit depends on your booking and when you let us know.
Can I cancel my booking or get a voucher instead?
The cancellation terms of your booking apply as set out in our terms and conditions. Send us your booking reference and date, and we'll let you know whether a cancellation, rescheduling or voucher is possible in your case.
